There’s something quite satisfying about making your own tomato sauce. And this one is delicious and oh so simple.
Thanks to Jamie Oliver’s “Jamie at Home” video series for the inspiration.
5 ripe tomatoes
2 T white wine vinegar
1 t smoked salt
2 T golden unrefined sugar
Generous splash vegan Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 T cornstarch
What to do:
Roughly chop the tomatoes.
Put in a pot on the stove and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
Add all other ingredients.
Either use a stick blender, or preferably put in high speed blender and whizz till smooth.
Put the mixture back in the pot on the stove and simmer till reduced and thickened.
Season if necessary.
We served this sauce with our homemade falafels at a recent Green and Vegan pop-up.
This makes about 500 ml.
